We found him when we moved in the apartment we are in. As I said when we saw him sitting in the grass we thought he was an owl, till he got up, then I knew he was a cat. He came over to where we were and I thought he belonged to someone, but he kept coming up to our back door.

There were a lot of cats out side with Hoot, so we decided it would be better if we started taking them up to the local animal pound. I set the trap out and Hoot was the first one I caught. I decided it would be best if I took him up there, so I did. They all fell in love with him, and they told me he was going to be a pound kitty. It made me sad but happy at the same time.

I left; a couple of days later I had brought another cat up, and asked about Hoot. They said they were letting him walk around the pound when someone came in and when the front door was opened he went out. I knew he would show up at the house. And a few days later he did, with a big collar on. I figured he must of stopped at someone's house along the way and got him a bite to eat and some water. They may have thought he was there to stay. But he was only there a short time and on his way he came.

When he showed up I called the pound and they came to pick him up. I was still taking cats up there, I had taken some cats up there when I asked about him. They said he had ear mites and was in a cage. I went in to see him, he looked sad, so I took him out of the cage and talk to him a few minutes and went home.

The next day I had gone back up there and saw they had a collar on him and he was looking like he wasn't going to last much longer. I decided I had to take him home, so I asked to speak with the director, and asked him if I could take him. I told him I would adopt him. And I did. I took him to the vet and found out he didn't have ear mites, he had an ear infection so bad and for so long. I had him taken care of and took him home.

We had several ear infections to fight, but for the past year or year and a half, he had one that we couldn't get rid of. I took hoot to the vet on Auguest 8, to set up a surgery to have his ear cleaned, when we found out he had a mass in his ear and it would take thousands of dollars to fix. The vet we use would not tell you to put an animal down, but he said he knew we didn't have that kind of money to put on a surgery. So he felt like that would be the best thing for him. I started crying, it took me about 10 minutes to agree to it.

I signed the papers and I told Hoot goodbye and I loved him, and I had to leave the room. I felt like I had done the wrong thing. I wanted to go back in time and change it. I felt like I had let him down giving in like that.

My niece has her cat, Milo on here, she told me about the site and I don't feel like I put enough about him on it. I just know it has made me feel a little better about it. We did have him cremated and have him sitting next to a brother on a shelf. So once again Thank you Rainbow Bridge Memorial.
